Airbnb quietly acquired Eliot, a real-time pricing calculator for rental property owners, in a previously unreported 2018 deal, an Airbnb spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider. Airbnb had already rolled out a similar tool to Eliot in 2015 called "Smart Pricing." Airbnb did not disclose how much it paid for the deal or what it did with Eliot's team or product. Airbnb has acquired more than two dozen startups in its journey toward becoming a public company, which it said it plans to do in 2020.
